Prince William is reportedly struggling to accept Prince Harry’s return to the UK.
Unlike his father, King Charles, the Prince of Wales is said to be far less welcoming toward his younger brother, several years after Harry and Meghan Markle stepped away from royal duties and publicly discussed their problems with the Royal Family.
While King Charles was reportedly informed about Harry’s plans to return to the UK, William is said to remain strongly opposed to giving his brother a bigger role within the monarchy.
Former royal butler Grant Harrold told The Independent: “William will be furious. Harry has said some extraordinary things about the family.”
He added that William is someone who takes broken trust very seriously and may find it difficult to move past what has happened.
William is also reportedly on the same page as King Charles when it comes to preventing Harry and Meghan from becoming half-in, half-out royals.
Harry and Meghan had asked for a similar arrangement after stepping down from their senior royal roles in 2020. However, the plan was not accepted by the Royal Family.
Harry left his official royal role alongside Meghan and their son, Prince Archie. The couple later moved to California, where they welcomed their daughter, Princess Lilibet.
Since leaving the Royal Family, Harry and Meghan have spoken publicly about their experiences within the monarchy and raised serious concerns about how they and their family were treated.
Now, as Harry reportedly plans to spend more time in the UK, the question of his future role remains complicated.
While Charles may be willing to rebuild his personal relationship with his son, William appears determined to protect the future of the monarchy and avoid bringing back the half-in, half-out arrangement that Harry and Meghan previously wanted.
