Meghan Markle is set to make a return to acting with a small cameo role, marking her first on-screen appearance in several years.
The Duchess of Sussex will reportedly appear in Jason Orley’s upcoming project Close Personal Friends, where she will play herself in a brief role. The appearance signals a return to the screen after a seven-year hiatus.
Meghan stepped away from acting before marrying Prince Harry in 2018. Before leaving Hollywood, she was best known for her role as Rachel Zane on the legal drama Suits.
Her return has sparked mixed reactions, with one royal commentator describing it as yet another “reinvention.”
YouTube personality Leilani of Barbados told the Express that Meghan’s public and professional shifts over the years have followed a pattern.
“I think she’s been practising acting for the past five years as she’s been cosplaying businesswomen, philanthropists, trad wives—whatever is trending at the moment,” she said.
She added, “Meghan has never been known as a big screen actress. She’s a cable TV actress. This is not a comeback into acting by any means, but instead her millionth reinvention.”
Leilani also offered a blunt personal view, calling Meghan “unwatchable, un-listenable, and unbearable.”
However, a source close to the production suggested the cameo is simply a low-key way for Meghan to explore a return to a familiar industry.
“This is a massive moment for Meghan and signifies a return to doing what she truly loves,” the insider said. “She has been swamped with offers, but this one felt right.”
They added that the appearance is a cautious step back into entertainment. “It is Meghan’s way of gently putting her toe back in the water and seeing how she enjoys being back on set. Everyone involved is super-excited and have been sworn to secrecy about her involvement.”
While opinions remain sharply divided, the cameo is already drawing attention as a potential new chapter in Meghan Markle’s evolving public career.
