Meghan Markle may lose her current royal title, but that doesn’t mean she would be left without one altogether.
According to royal expert Ingrid Seward, the former actress could still be known as a princess if King Charles III were ever to strip her and Prince Harry of their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles. Even in that scenario, Harry would remain a prince by birth — and Meghan could take on the title “Princess Henry.”
Seward explained that such a change might create confusion, particularly in the United States, where royal naming conventions are less familiar. For that reason, she believes it’s unlikely any drastic move will be made.
“I don’t think anything will happen to the titles,” Seward said, noting that removing them could appear unnecessary and even harsh.
She also pointed out that the titles were originally granted by Queen Elizabeth II, suggesting it would be more appropriate to let the couple retain them.
In Seward’s view, the Royal Family’s current approach says it all — keep things as they are and allow Harry and Meghan to move forward with their lives.
