James Middleton has offered a rare and charming glimpse into his bond with sisters Catherine, Princess of Wales, and Pippa Matthews—and it turns out, it’s all about bees.
The 39-year-old entrepreneur recently opened up about their close sibling relationship, revealing that the trio shares a surprising passion: beekeeping. According to James, the hobby has become a meaningful way for them to stay connected, with each sibling maintaining their own hives.
“We’re often exchanging a jar for a jar,” he shared, describing how they swap honey produced in different locations. “It’s incredible how different places create completely unique flavors.”
Despite what some might expect, James was quick to dismiss any sense of rivalry among them. Instead, he emphasized that beekeeping is rooted in collaboration rather than competition.
“There’s no competition at all,” he explained. “The beekeeping community is about sharing advice and experiences, because no two years are ever the same.”
Even Prince William has weighed in on his wife’s expertise, once noting during a visit to Borough Market that Catherine “knows everything about bees.”
Interestingly, it was Kate, Pippa, and their parents who first introduced James to the hobby—by gifting him 1,000 bees for his 24th birthday.
Beyond beekeeping, James is also preparing for an appearance at Goodwoof, a pet festival founded by the Duke of Richmond and often dubbed the “Glastonbury for dogs.” There, he plans to showcase his canine first-aid kit, a product inspired by his own experiences caring for dogs.
Reflecting on life as he approaches 40, James added a thoughtful note: while the number may sound daunting, he doesn’t feel much different than he did in his twenties.
“It’s a bit scary,” he admitted, “but I don’t feel any older than I did when I was 20.”
