Meghan Markle is reportedly preparing for a major change as she and Prince Harry consider spending more time in the UK.
The move could be challenging for Meghan, especially as she works to rebuild her relationship with the British public after leaving the country with Harry in 2019. The couple first moved to Canada before later settling in the US.
Their departure was part of what became known as Megxit. Harry and Meghan had wanted a half-in, half-out arrangement that would allow them to remain connected to the Royal Family while becoming financially independent.
However, the plan was rejected, and the couple eventually stepped away from their senior royal roles.
Harry later discussed the difficult period in his memoir Spare, including details about his relationship with Prince William and the arguments that took place between the brothers.
Now, with Harry and Meghan reportedly looking for a permanent home in the UK alongside their Montecito property and Portuguese holiday home, they may have to make significant efforts to improve their public image.
According to a source who spoke with the Daily Express, the couple knows that returning to Britain will not be easy.
The insider claimed that Meghan has been preparing for the challenge and understands that she may have to take a step back.
“Meghan knows this is not going to be easy, and she’s going to be eating humble pie,” the source said.
The insider also claimed that Meghan has been advised to let Harry take the lead when they return to Britain.
“She’s been told this is her time to step back and let Harry do the talking, as after all, this is his home, and he is the star here,” the source explained.
The couple is also reportedly working with PR and crisis-management professionals ahead of the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.
According to the source, Harry and Meghan understand that repairing their relationship with Prince William and Princess Kate could be an important part of their future in the UK.
“Harry and Meghan know that there will never be a way back into the royal fold unless they can make things better with William and Kate,” the insider said.
“That would be the first step,” they added.
Previous reports have suggested that William is not interested in reconciliation without a proper apology from Harry and Meghan.
For now, Meghan’s reported strategy appears to involve keeping a lower profile, allowing Harry to take the lead and making efforts to rebuild trust with the Royal Family and the British public.
